Hi! Thanks for stopping by Where the Watermelons Grow. Once the home of Islamama, our move to Central California from Kaua‘i heralded a need for many changes…including the name of this blog. The name came to me after singing the song “Down by the bay, where the watermelons grow…” to my two year old for the 43rd time before bed.

I currently can be spotted near Monterey Bay in Santa Cruz County with my Australian mister, little chum, baby girl gumnut, a pod of migrating grey whales, plus one or two unruly sea otters.
